Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended is a special professional version of the Acrobat PDF editor that was released by Adobe Systems as part of the Acrobat 9 family on June 23, 2008. It differs from Acrobat 9 Pro in that it incorporates features from Acrobat 3D and was bundled with Adobe Presenter 7, Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES, and Adobe 3D Reviewer.
New features[]
The professional editions of Adobe Acrobat 9 introduced a new "ClearScan" option to convert text in a scanned document into editable text with a custom font.[1] In "Pro" editions of Adobe Acrobat DC, this feature was updated and renamed to "Editable Text and Images", which uses heuristics to determine the font used in the scan.[2]
Issues[]
Sometimes the ClearScan feature may garble text extracted from a scanned document because of problems with font matching in Windows. A workaround is to go to Tools > Edit > Scanned Documents > Settings
and then deselect "Use available system font" under Scanned Document Editing Settings
.[3]
