Adobe Acrobat Elements was a very basic version of the Acrobat family that was released by Adobe Systems. Its key feature advantage over the free Adobe Acrobat Reader was the ability to create reliable PDF files from Microsoft Office applications.[1]
Product history[]
- Adobe Acrobat Elements 1.0 was released in April 2003 through a volume licensing program for enterprise customers with a minimum order of 1,000 units.
- Adobe Acrobat Elements 6.0 was released in October 2003 along with Acrobat Elements Server 6.0.
- Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Elements was released in April 2005 and reduced the minimum order to 100 units. The Windows version was updated to 7.0.5 on October 13, 2005.
- Adobe Acrobat 8 Elements had been scheduled to be released in mid-2007.[2] However, Adobe announced on April 23, 2007 that there would be no new version of Elements and instead offered upgrades to Acrobat 8 Standard for existing users.[3]
Discontinuation[]
As the ability to create PDF files became a basic feature integrated into the Mac OS X and Windows operating systems, sales of Acrobat Elements was discontinued on June 2, 2008. Elements customers with an active upgrade plan on that date were provided Acrobat 9 Standard.[4] Acrobat Elements Server was superseded by Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.[5]
