Adobe Document Server was a server-based tool released in 1999 by Adobe Systems that allowed hosting and viewing of PDF files through a web browser without the need for a PDF reader application such as Adobe Reader. It supported Windows NT Server 4.0 or greater, or Sun Solaris 2.5 or greater.

Features[]

Document Server converts hosted PDF files into GIF or JPEG images that can be viewed by any client's web browser. It also converts the text from PDF files into HTML to support screen reading software for the visually impaired.

Discontinuation[]

In June 2006, Document Server was rebranded and replaced by Adobe LiveCycle Assembler.[1]
