The software was originally launched in early 2000 as Communiqué (CQ) by Day Software of Basel, Switzerland. The first release, based on Day's ContentBus architecture, was comprised of a set of CGI scripts for Netscape Enterprise Server. After CQ 5.3 had been released,[1] Day Software was acquired by Adobe Systems on October 29, 2010.[2] Communiqué was briefly rebranded as Adobe CQ,[3] and then became Adobe Experience Manager.[4]
