Bud Colligan

Bud Colligan (born August 14, 1954) is an American business executive who co-founded Macromedia in July 1992 with Tim Mott.[1]

Colligan received a B.S. in international economics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 1976. He earned his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983.[2]


Colligan joined Authorware Inc. in 1989 and was its president and CEO when it merged with MacroMind-Paracomp to form Macromedia. He served as the first president and COO of the combined company.[2][1] Colligan took over CEO duties from Tim Mott on January 1, 1993. He stepped down as CEO in 1997. He was also chairman of the board of Macromedia from 1994 until 1998.[3][4]
