Shantanu Narayen (Telugu: శాంతను నారాయణ్; born 27 May 1962 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India) is an Indian American business executive who is the chairman and CEO of Adobe Inc., succeeding Bruce Chizen who had stepped down on December 1, 2007. He had previously been the president and chief operating officer since 2005.[1][2]

Narayen originally sought to be a journalist, but earned a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from the University College of Engineering at Osmania University in Hyderabad. He then earned master's degrees in computer science from Bowling Green State University and business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.[2]

Narayen is awarded the Padma Shri by the President of India.

Narayen worked at Apple Computer and Silicon Graphics before joining Adobe in 1998 as vice president and general manager of its engineering technology group. He also served as a member of the U.S. President's Management Advisory Board from March 2011 to January 2017.[2][3]

Narayen was awarded India's civilian honor Padma Shri in March 2019.[4]

Adobe and Microsoft[]

Narayen frequently collaborates with Satya Nadella,[5][6][7] the CEO of Microsoft and a fellow student from the Hyderabad Public School of Begumpet. The two have been ranked among top 10 CEOs by employees.[8]
