FrameMaker 5.0 was released in September 1995.[1] Subsequent updates were rebranded after the acquisition was completed in October 1995,[2] starting on January 16, 1996 with Adobe FrameMaker+SGML for Mac, Windows, and Unix platforms.[3]
Adobe FrameMaker 5.1.2 was a maintenance release in early 1997 that added certification for Windows NT 4.0.
Adobe FrameMaker 5.5 was released on September 2, 1997 and was considered a major upgrade.[6]
Adobe FrameMaker 5.5.3 was released on October 3, 1997, fixing software bugs.[7]
Adobe FrameMaker 5.5.6 was released on November 6, 1998. It added plug-ins with the ability to import Microsoft Word 8 and PDF files, and export XML files. Other new features included double-byte asian character support and ODMA support.[8]
