MacroMind Director 1

MacroMind Director 1.0 is the first version of the Director multimedia authoring environment, which was released in 1989 by MacroMind,[1] predecessor of Macromedia.[2]

Product history[]

MacroMind president Marc Canter had originally announced the project in 1988 as VideoWorks Professional, a successor to its VideoWorks II animation package with added paint capabilities.[3] Tiny BASIC was implemented as a scripting language in beta versions that were delivered to Apple Computer for use in "Guided Tours" tutorial files.[4]

The finished project was renamed MacroMind Director and was released solely for Macintosh System 6.0.2 or later at a list price of US$695.[5] Tiny BASIC would be replaced by Lingo in version 2.[4][6]
