Macromedia Backstage Internet Studio 2 is an early "Studio" software suite for Windows 95 and NT that was released in the first quarter of 1997.[1] It is the second (and last) major version of Backstage from Macromedia after its acquisition of the developer, iBand, on March 13, 1996.[2]

Product history[]
Macromedia began beta testing Backstage Internet Studio 2 in December 1996.[3] It was released in the first quarter of 1997.[1]
Versions[]
Backstage Internet Studio 2 was available in two editions:[4]
- Desktop Edition: (US$299) connects to common desktop databases, such as Borland Paradox, dBase, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and FoxPro. This edition superseded version 1.0 of Macromedia Backstage Desktop Studio 1.0.
- Enterprise Edition: (US$999) connects desktop databases, as well as client-server databases, such as Informix, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase SQL Server. This edition superseded version 1.0 of Macromedia Backstage Enterprise Studio.

Backstage version 2.0 was selected as an Editor's Choice by E-Media's in March 1997 and was awarded 4 out of 5 stars by PC/Computing in April 1997.[5]
