Macromedia Director 4 is the fourth major version of the Director multimedia authoring environment, which was announced on February 28, 1994 by Macromedia.[1] It was also bundled as part of Director Multimedia Studio, which shipped in February 1995.[2]

- Version 4.0 for Macintosh shipped on March 31, 1994.[1]
- Version 4.0.1 for Power Macintosh is released in late April.[3]
- Version 4.0.3 for Windows was announced on June 6, 1994 and shipped on August 15, 1994.[3][4][5]
- Version 4.0.4 for Pentium-based Windows computers shipped on April 24, 1995.[6]
