
Philip W. Schiller (born June 8, 1960) was the vice president of product marketing at Macromedia.[1]
Education[]
Schiller was born in Natick, Massachusetts in June 1960. He received a bachelor's degree in Biology from Boston College in 1982.[1][2]
Career[]
Schiller first joined at Apple Computer as a product marketing manager in 1987.[3] By 1988, he was known as the "Techno Rambo" of the Business Multimedia Group, presenting demonstrations built with HyperCard and VideoWorks.[4] In 1993, he became the director of product marketing at FirePower Systems.[1] In 1995, he joined Macromedia, where he became the VP of product marketing.[4]

In April 1997, Schiller rejoined Apple after Steve Jobs had returned to the company.[5] Schiller succeeded Mitch Mandich, who retired as Apple's head of marketing at the end of December 2000.[6] Schiller eventually became senior VP of worldwide marketing. In December 2015, he took over management of Apple's App Store.[7] On August 4, 2020, Schiller was designated as an Apple Fellow.[8]
