Photoshop Lite, alternatively known as Photoshop Portable, is an unauthorized variant of Adobe Photoshop software that has been "portablized" — modded to be loaded from USB drives. The user interface and color schemes of these Photoshop versions may appear similar to a standard application. A modded application will sometimes show "Lite" on the splash screen with a flash drive graphic on it, especially the extended editions that have been portablized.
Pirated applications[edit | edit source]
These mods of Photoshop have been found through blogs and torrents of "portablized" applications such as PortableAppz and PerkedleApps. Unlike a regular application, the "portable" version starts up with a banner of where the program was downloaded from, before displaying the official splash screen. The portable program has also been hacked allow users to circumvent the 30 day trial limit without the need for a license key. The "portable" installer is compressed for use from USB devices, but can also install malware without the user's knowledge. The Photoshop creator and development team stated that the portable applications are illegally cracked and pirated versions of Photoshop. Only one version of these can run; the others will not be usable until the running portable application is closed.
