RoboHELP 1.0 was the first version of the RoboHelp authoring tool, released in January 1992 by Blue Sky Software.[1]
Features[]
RoboHELP functions appear as a customizable floating palette of tools in Microsoft Word for Windows. It generates RTF files of formatted source code that can support context-sensitive help with hypertext links and cross references for the Windows 3.x Help System.[2]
Product history[]
RoboHELP was created by Gen Kiyooka at San Diego-based Blue Sky Software, which first announced RoboHelp in October 1991 for US$350 and required Word for Windows 1.0 and at least one development environment (Microsoft SDK 3.0, Borland C++ 2.0, or Zortech C++ 3.0) to compile the source code into Windows help files.[3] However, when it shipped in the following January, the price rose to $495 and minimum requirements were revised to specify at least Word for Windows 1.1.[1]
Blue Sky Software filed for the "ROBOHELP" trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on March 30, 1992.[4] As RoboHELP became the flagship product of Blue Sky Software, the company changed its name to eHelp Corporation on April 4, 2000.[5]
