Verity was the developer of Topic, which became Adobe FrameViewer Retrieval Tools.
History[]
Frame Technology licensed Topic's text retrieval technology from Verity in 1992.[1] Frame Technology had also intended to acquire Verity,[2] but instead only invested a US$2 million stake in 1993.[2]
After Frame Technology was acquired by Adobe Systems in October 1995,[3] Adobe FrameViewer Retrieval Tools 5.1 was Adobe's only subsequent release.[4] The tools were discontinued with the release of FrameMaker 5.5.6, which adopted support for the Open Document Management application programming interface (ODMA) for document management systems.[5] Verity was acquired by Autonomy in 1995 for $500 million.[6]
